Wasps are incredibly misunderstood.

I'm not a great lover of wasps. As soon as ones near by I'm off. I once believed they had no purpose, and they where just here to spoil your day. But obviously they have a purpose as everything does some how. A wasp however was rather intriguing, They have not only been around since the Jurassic period, but evolved, bred and multiplied, to survive the changes of the world over the centuries.
The first paragraph I read on Wiki was "A wasp is any insect of the order Hymenoptera and suborder Apocrita that is neither a bee nor an ant. This means that wasps are paraphyletic with respect to bees and ants, and that all three groups are descended from a common ancestor; the Apocrita form a clade."
A clade (κλάδος) is from Ancient Greek, meaning one clan. Wasps used to be seen building their nests in trees, trees of life. The wasps over the years like humans have multiplied, other breeds have been discovered, yet more has still be yet to find. There are many, many different breeds of wasps in all various colours and sizes, in most parts of the World. Hornets are in the same family chain as the wasp, but are a lot bigger, and can be more aggressive. The Megalara garuda is the King and Queen of wasps, being discovered in 2011 in "by Rosichon Ubaidillah from LIPI (Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia)and Lynn Kimsey, director of the Bohart Museum of Entomology and professor of entomology at the University of California, Davis, on the Mekongga Mountains in the southeastern part of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi." it states on Wikipedia. It also stated that the wasp was simultaneously disvored by Michael Ohl. They are a solitary predators of the other insects species.
Wasps keep a balance to the planet, the insect food chain. The title Wasp was given to a play written in about 420 B.C by Aristophanes, it's also been used for Planes and military operations. We use the word wasp sometimes to describe someone who has a sting or in venomous, as wasps are a predator and do carry a venom as such.
If we didn't have wasps we would be over run with other insects. The wasp has many positive symbolic meanings too, There is a button to link on my links page, going into a bit more detail. The wasps works really hard making their nests from wood pulp that they chew them selves. Then they lay it out like plaster, all working together. Their nests are incredible when you watch them build one, (do stay at a safe distance though!). Wasps and their marvellous building skills gave them their symbolic meaning of master architect. They're the symbolic meaning of evolution in some African cultures, order, organization as well as productivity in some native American Indian cultures, fertility in Ancient European lore, new beginnings as the wasp starts work again in Spring till Autumn.
A wasp does't start it's day with upsetting a human in mind, it may actually have a message for you. If we don't act so aggressive towards them, they wouldn't sting us. I had a wasp in my kitchen the other morning, and I asked it nicely to stay on the other side of the kitchen, as im not to keen on wasps. The wasp actually did to, it rested somewhere warm and out the way, not once bothering me. I left the window open, I guess it flew out at some point, as the wasp is gone now.
So I now see that they're not here to ruin our day. They behave the same as some humans docile and aggressive, during different stages of the seasons.
